My Little Scholar

When I got Baylor out of the car yesterday I immediately noticed his wonderful reading skills.  The teacher/mom in me was oh so proud... it's a pretty intense book too.  He was turning the pages, studying the words and pictures, and I'm sure his comprehension was perfect!  ...Totally kidding, but the pictures were classic :)

Last week I took B to my school for a family arts night.  My principal saw the little frog bar and the rings hanging from his carrier and she asked if I was stimulating him enough... ha ha Shelly, you better believe he's never bored or in need of something to look at!

I also have to mention that today we went to my cousin Carlee's mission farewell.  As Baylor so wonderfully cooperated in Sacrament meeting, I had to hurry and make our discrete exit... and then I hit the frog bar and it's lovely tune played throughout the chapel.  My bad.  There's no way to turn in off or down so I just booked it out.  And for Baylor's sake, he really is pretty good in church.  Only having to walk out once isn't bad :)

Doctor, shots, and tylenol

Wednesday I had to take Baylor in for his 4 month check-up.  Yes, FOUR months old already!  Time flies!  I had the worst anxiety about taking him in again for shots after our horrible experience last time, but thankfully we got a better nurse and it wasn't so traumatizing for either of us.  Not that it was enjoyable, but better than before.

He weighed in at a hearty 14.5 pounds and measured 25 1/2 inches!  It's crazy how quickly they grow.  I love that he's getting some meat on him.  His little legs are finally getting some chub, which look adorable now that he's wearing shorts.

I also had to put the last picture of him with tylenol coming out of his mouth.  He was making the funniest faces when I tried giving it to him.  I have never seen him do anything like it.  I had to laugh and of course run and grab my camera.   Probably mean of me, I don't like the taste of medicine either, but he was just being so funny.  He even did a shudder afterwards.  He didn't cry about it, just acted like it was by far the NASTIEST thing he has ever encountered.

Going Going, Back Back, to Rio Rio

Russ was able to go down to Brazil for 11 days as part of his MBA program at Westminster.   It was extra exciting for him, because one of the cities they visited, Rio De Janeiro, was where he served his mission.  They also went to Sao Paulo and Salvador.  Looking at all of his amazing pictures only made me more jealous that I didn't get to go!  Baylor and I got to hang out while he was gone though, and maybe one day we can all go back.

The picture below the stock exchange is of Russ and Tiago Cuellar, one of his companions from his mission!  He and his family live in Sao Paulo and they were able to go out to dinner while Russ was there.  Below that is Russ with a little girl named Beatriz that he was able to visit at an orphanage in Salvador.  They were assigned a child before they left and were supposed to take them a gift.  Heaven knows I jumped all over that and got her a cute baby doll and a purse filled with things from the Hello Kitty store.  Russ said she absolutely loved it and wouldn't let go of it the whole time he was there.  It made me so happy to hear that it made her smile.  Russ said everyone teared up a lot while they were there with all of the children.  I probably would have brought one home with me.    The other pictures are just a few of the amazing sights of Brazil!  It looks absolutely beautiful.  I'm glad Russ had a great time, but more glad that he was safe and made it back home to us.

Cute, cute, cute

Here are Baylor's spring pictures!  He is just so stinkin cute!  Every time I look at his little cheeks I just want to kiss them!  In the last 2 weeks he's been rolling over, giggling a lot, and last night he gave me the best Mother's Day present ever... he slept for 8 hours in the night.  Yes, EIGHT hours!  It was heaven on earth.  He's also been so into his feet lately.  Whenever he can grab them he does.  I keep waiting for him to stick a foot into his mouth!

I also have to give kudos to my amazing photographer and sees Michelle!  She has taken so many fun pictures of Baylor.  This top one is my favorite, but I love them all so much I might as well just start wallpapering my house with pictures of him!  Anyone who knows me very well, knows I LOVE LOVE LOVE pictures.  So thanks sees, you are so talented!

You are my Sunshine

My darling little guy started laughing this last week.  I've got him to do a few little laughs here and there, but yesterday he really giggled for me.  If you watch the video, I BARELY touch him and he laughs!  He also gets the hiccups!  Luckily I had my camera and mom close by when I did it, so I grabbed it and had her record.  My mouth hurt afterward from smiling so hard.  He truly is my sunshine!

Russ- we hope you're having a blast down in Brazil!!!  We miss you and can't wait for you to get home.  Love you, "Krip" and Baylor :)
